Mary Anning

The Icon, she sold sea-shells by the sea shore, but those shells and bones came from animals you’ll never see in our oceans today. Born to a poor family marginalised due to their religious beliefs Mary overcame a lot of other barriers in addition to gender discrimination.

She was granted pension by the government for her contribution to science.

In the last century and especially recent decades her story has attracted more and more retellings
